Thunderstorms over night. Light rain for the drive from Montgomery to Selma, so we didn’t walk over the Pettus Bridge.

Selma was hit by a tornado in January. The devastation was very sad. Many, many trees down along the road.

​At Gee’s Bend, we met Mary Ann Pettway, one of the quilters who pieces in the distinctive style of the region. She had lots of quilts in process all over her workroom.

​Took the ferry across the Alabama River and stopped for a COB (chicken on a bun) at Jackson’s Fried Chicken in Camden.

​Onto to Biloxi. The beach road is lined with beautiful live oaks. Many of the trees were killed by Katrina and some of those trees have been carved with sea birds and other creatures.
